Lieberman Software - Information Security Survey 2015
In April, 2015 Lieberman Software Corporation surveyed IT security professionals at RSA Conference 2015 in San Francisco, CA. The survey measured attendees’ opinions about the current state of hiring in the IT security industry, how regulatory compliance affects security, and the general effectiveness of IT security products.
RSA Conference was selected as the venue for the survey due to the demographics of its attendees — IT security professionals who attend the show from all regions of the world and all major vertical markets. According to the event’s web site, “RSA Conference has consistently attracted the world's best and brightest in the field, creating opportunities for conference attendees to learn about IT security's most important issues through first-hand interactions with peers, luminaries and emerging and established companies.”
The following sections of this report summarize the survey results, broken down by each question. Highlights include:
► 85% of respondents believe that it’s a struggle to find good IT security personnel.
► 76% of those surveyed think that cyber attacks are evolving at too fast of a pace for IT security personnel to keep up with.
► 61% of respondents work in organizations that have deployed a security product purely to meet regulatory compliance, rather than to increase security.
► 69% do not think that their organization is using its IT security products to their full potential.
► As a result, 71% of the above respondents think this puts their company more at risk.
